Don't you think you have the Aqua muff installed upside down? Rings are supposed to be the mounting pads...
The exhaust outlet tube is the bigger one.

It's not an Aqua Muff, it's a Jetcraft Turbomuff (probably one of their Sea-doo models) and the inlet/outlet tubes have been modded, they are normally the same diameter. Also, he had it backwards originally, but now has it the correct orientation regarding exhaust flow inside.

Well I decided to install the exact same box in my B1 today...definitely sounds deeper.
Also definitely not louder (yet)

Will throw in the water tomorrow ;-)

I know some have suggested putting a fire extinguisher in that hoop part - I hope they were joking b/c the heat of the exhaust gases through that pipe could heat an extinguisher and blow it up - just saying

I got around to riding mine yesterday...definitely no performance gains noted (none expected), but surprising as quiet as stock or perhaps even a touch quieter.

Yep, it's hard to believe something so simple in design works so well, but it does. Video, video!

Jetcraft used rings like that for mounting depending on what ski it was going in. They are so small that the rings were used to get it to line up with the stock hoses. Not all models had them.

think the ring is a heat sink?

As mentioned already, it's just a mounting ring to space it up to match whatever model ski it was built for so that it lines up with the stock exhaust hoses. Some skis didn't need any at all.
