ok so this really blows im in the shop a little while ago its the nicest day weve had so far this year so i finish working on my trailer im going riding:cheer: so as im getting ready to load up i make sure my s#!ts gonna run right, fire it up and give it a squeeze and POP:bigeyes: it backfires...wtf?
never did this last year.....did it a couple of times the first time i took it out and i thought maybe it was from sitting around with some fogging oil in it ....anyway i give it another squeeze and:bigeyes: POP again but this time my handlepole shoots outta my hand and the hood pops up in the air bending a hook and i was all kinds of like:bigeyes:  .....so i take the hood off and smoke everywhere....wait for it to clear......then i go tearing into it (ake my tank out smoke seemed to be coming from the front)....and once more:bigeyes: the whole side of the waterbox is laying there a hole about the size of 2 fists.

question is can i run without one? back in the day i had a 550 without one...

what the f$#@ is causing this? didnt do it at the end of last year...

anybody got a waterbox? cheap!

i was told to take thesquare side of the carb off and pull the little black plug out with a pair of needle nose pliers and check the screen behind it?

61x
jetted mikuni carb
"b" pipe
flow control valve
nothing special..

????????????????????????????????????????

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

The factory pipe waterboxes are nice and sound good.....nice a little louder but more of a performance sound. You can pick them up for a little over 100.

the last 2 times I blew a waterbox was from an exhaust leak....what happens is unburned fuel can accumulate in the pipe, and when you start her up BOOM!

how long had the hood been on it? suppose it could have happened just due to vapors, but I'd be looking for any sort of leakage from the pipe/waterbox into the hull..

pretty freakin' loud though, wasnt it..

do you mean runs fine OUT of the water??? if so, ignore that..it doesnt mean ****.....

check for exhaust leaks, or possibly a bad n/s....the rubber tends to get hard on them after sitting for awhile.....

pull your f/a off...run her and see if there's extra fuel dripping from the venturi...
