Just thought I would post some disturbing news. We all know that wet foam weighs a lot. But I had no clue... I knew my ski was full of water because without a eyelet in the tray you could see that the hull had a small gap and that water would drip from that. So my plan was to defoam and install drain screws and leave it like that. I defoamed part of my ski tonight but before I done that I drilled a few small holes at the bottom of the hull to let water drain. I let the water drain for a day and got almost a gallon of water.
I started with a clean shop vac and started eating away at the foam through the exhaust tube and scupper valve hole. After I was all done (I thought) I weighed the water and the trash bag of wet foam. Here are the bad cell phone pictures. WOW is all I can say. The trash bag weighed in at 10.5 pounds and the water was just over 8.5 pounds. THAT IS 19 POUNDS.... Holey poop What a savings for 2 hours of work...
I ate a bit more foam out than the picture shows but left it like it is. I will finish the job when I get new foot holds and turf. But I should be able to feel a diference with just this.
