You don't have to but it isn't hurting anything.

I always take mine out. If they don't do anything, they are wasting space!

I take it out and leave on vent to the outside. I cut the tube short on the one-way and let the vent stay in the hood. Prevents the seperator from filling and letting water into the tank. You can also just unscrew the cap.

It was in the way when pulling my motor and B pipe. Made me frustrated so i yanked it. Thanks guys.

Drill the rivets out, they are under the hood seal.
