Water Box Removal

i was at the lake the other day and met a man with a waveblaster that was running no water box. I have a 1998 sxi pro, just wondering if removing the water box will take away too much back pressure and make it run bad or cause damage. Any1 have some advise for me?????

x2, Pleasure boaters and fisherman already hate us. Don't give them a very loud reason to affirm their hate. You will lose power and will have to rejet to get the most out of it...and then it may still be less than what you had.
