Surfriding Want to respray my ski, advice please?

Ok so i have a 2000 superjet...
Its white on the bottom, and the top is the standard yamaha blue. No decals at all.

Anyway, long story short, i want to respray it.

I've tried to do a lot of research and find out how it is best to spray it and what to use. so far i've been oriented towards Gel coat paint.

So, how do i do this?

Do i sand down the existing hull (top and bottom) and then use a fibreglass etching primer, then apply the gel coat over it?

I want a MATTE finish as well...dont wan't a gloss at all.

Any advice/feedback is appreciated :D

Whats your thoughts? Why is that?
Should i use something else apart from GelCoat?

I want something that will 'flex' a bit as well due to surf riding..

But yeah, after a Matte finish...

What would i need to put on it after?

Okay I will bite, first off gelcoat does not flex, its like painting rubber with paint, when you flex the rubber the paint cracks up, secondly, you cannot control finish on gelcoat, you put it on its rough and nasty looking, then you sand and buff it for days to make it shiny, not sure how you would achieve a Matte finish on gelcoat,my suggsetion is Polyurethane, you can get paint blended that will produce a matte finish, you can also get clear coat that has a matte finish, POLYURETHANE is basically spray on plastic and it flexes with the ski. You can also add flex additive as they use on plastic bumpers for more flex .

What about those guys who roll on paint? Does that work? I am working on picking up a ski and once I do I was going to see what it needed an maybe do a fresh coat of paint but I don't have any friends with paint booths so I was wondering what are good options out there too.

Matte finish would be pretty sweet looking, what color were you going to do?
