I'm looking into getting the cylinders on my 93 Kawi X2 ported and polished...
Who is the best for 650 cylinder port work?

I just need someone that is reliable and does top quality work...

But why ?

Wouldn't a bigger motor or a Yamaha conversion make more sense ??

While a bigger ENGINE is always a nice improvement, a ported and properly tuned 650 is nothing to shake a stick at. My theory is anytime you have the engine down, build it right, including porting! :)

I have been collecting parts for the x2, and would like to stick with the 650 since I already have a mint one. (and parts are cheap for them)
Engine swaps aren't really my thing.... we'll just say I tend to strip things out, swear, yell, and then start throwing poop... My 02 SJ holds me over when I need some yami power.

So far I have a 44sbn, intake manifold, 15.5 prop and block off plates.
I'd like to get the cylinders ported, get a High compression head, Coffman exhaust, and mod the stock waterbox.

I'm going to give Art a call and see what he'd charge to port it.... so far 2 people have recommended him

I know others have got your cylinders ported, so who did YOU use?

You will need the pipe and porting as well as a lower pitch prop for best thrust. Modding the stock waterbox is a waste of time, unless you are looking for attention and like ringing ears.

Porting the cases is a big part of the equasion. My 650 rips. Pete Jacobs rode my 650 and said it was 95 % of what his very exspensive 840 was. My guy charges $500 to port everything in the 650 (cases and cylinders).

The typo. Or rather, what I thought was a typo. Group K makes the 849, which I thought this was.
Confused yet?

Pete's 820 was built by jetskimechanic. He wasnt happy with it , it blew up , he rebuilt it with a local guy to 840.
