Wamiltons Knock Off Hood?

I have a pump in the for sale section that I want to trade for a Wamilton hood and nose. So gerban19 says he has one and emails me pictures. It looks perfect to me so I said I will do the deal.

Right after another member sends me a PM saying the hood may not be a real Wamilton. I sent the pictures to Wamilton himself and he said it was a copy of his hood and he wants me to call him.

When I phoned Wamilton he just confirmed it is not his hood and he claims gerbain19 makes them in his garage in Brazil.

Gerbain19 still claims it is a real Wamilton. Does it matter if it is a knock off? Who do I believe? This is a link to my original ad.

I think you are going to need to post some pictures of the hood. The link to that ad doesn't contain any pictures.

If it were me I would probably believe Wamilton on that one. Who knows though. :dunno:

I have seen this as well from multiple people. I don't know what legal claim Wamilton or any other company has to the designs, but is sure is a shame that others are profiting from their hard work.
Boat manufacturers copy each others designs a lot and have been getting away with it legally for years. Does anyone know how our laws protect the products we us from the same theft?

aren't you talking about making a light weight superjet? you don't feel bad about copying yamaha do you? there is a fine line here and I don't know what the answer is.

First of all: ROBERT, please copy here the email that I send to U and Wamilton at the same time.

Second: I never offered Wamiltons stuff or REPLICAS here.

As U guys can read, I got this hood kit from one of the best customers of WAMILTON. He is one of my best, FABIANO SILVA.

He trade in some parts when bought my GP1200R and so as I use a diferent style and Robert was looking for it I decided to trade with him.

I am not going inside the point as some guys above claiming about copies. This is a long thread about even a light weight hulls and rights of companies. I think that the BIG PROBLEM is to sell some replicas as an ORIGINAL and this is not the case at this time.

I offered to Robert several items and he choosed this one.

So, as I said on my email to Wamilton and Robert, I would go to WAMILTONS CUSTOMS and show it to be analised and after that ship to Robert.

Everybody knows that I just BUY stuff here... never sell... actually, I am trying it right now (TLR CYLINDER).

Thanks,

Geraldo

I would tend to believe wamilton .I have a wamilton hull and hood that was built for Lenzi and from what I heard lenzi was copying them.Maybe there is a connection between these two people.

SURE. I am very friend of Lenzi.

But, for the THIRD TIME.... it is an ORIGINAL PRODUCT and I have no reason to do not deal it.

Gera it sounds like there is something going on between you and Wamilton that we don't know about. I am thinking he doesn't like you?

I will ship you the pump ASAP.

Robert, I never posted anything BAD about Wamilton and I do not have any reason for it. Actually, I have to congratulate his personal meticulous work many times.

The only strange point on this is that even being from Brazil (and being forced by my work - comercialattorney - to go to US often) I prefer to deal with RIVA, GREATER and LEGDRAG instead of his company. I reserve the right to tell the reason. We tried to have a conversation about parts manufacture but it never happen. I would say he did hear very well about what I DO. Some members can confirm that but I really ask to keep this in silent.

I guess I have a good reputation on this forum, PWCTODAY, Ebay (gerabandeira) and also in all that companies for long time.

I' ve been dealing with GREATER YAMAHA since Jeff Sutherland and now with John Highfield passing thru Kevin Collins (now Legdrag) - it is about 10 years relation.

I build my own stuff but I do not offer it or sell under other companies name.

Robert, thanks for your trust since the first email/PM sent.

As I told U I will be in Europe for 10-13 days than I go to US.

As I told U it is already boxed.

thanks,

Gera

PS. Feel free to post email, pics or whatever U want...I have nothing to hide or do not tell to anybody.

I have been asked repeatedly to make a lightweight superjet, but I have no intentions of making one at this time. I have however made carbon hulls that are modified versions of Kaw SXIpro skis. These are not exact copies, nor do I offer them for sale as an OEM original hull.

Geraldo is cool... I have seen him on these boards buying stuff for years... If he was a rip off artist, it would have come out by now...
