Freestyle Voltage Regulator or Coil Pack gone bad how to check

Simple question.

How can one check to see if a coil pack or voltage regulator had gone bad other than plug and play replacement?

I appreciate the help.

Voltage regulator - test battery voltage with engine off, then test battery voltage with engine running. 12.5 + - a volt or so engine off, 13.7 - 14.5 volts with engine on
Coil secondary winding test - one multimeter test probe in each plug boot at the same time - 3.5 - 4.7 k ohms resistance
Coil primary winding inside e-box test - one multimeter test probe in each bullet connector coil wire at the same time - 0.078 -106 ohms resistance

Download the service manual (there’s a thread somewhere on here with most, easy to find). Grab a multimeter and go through your ebox per the manual specs. Coil secondary can be checked through the plug boots as mentioned.

The values I posted are from the manual. The battery spec is not in the manual but is just typical rule of thumb expectations.
