It's certainly not going to be someone with a pancake for a hat.

But I think you're right, my motor will be too pretty/shiny for that. I think the official grandmasterspankmaster titles are reserved for stockish looking engines.

HEY D.A. , have u talked to Art in the last 15 minutes? I didn't think so. Don't do a thing UNTIL you talk to him! Thats what you pay him for-him to tell you what will work best! 99% of the people on here can't tune a radio much less carbs on a ski.

Lmao, so true too. I see you remembered your password huh?

If you don't go power valves it's just a waste....

That's what I keep hearing.
I realize I won't be able to hang with the kool Powervalve kids in the power department. Also my pump will be too small for such a big motor, but the lack of powervalves will probably somewhat iron it out.
In any event, it's no XS1000 or even DASA 850, but it'll do for me.

have you guys tried fullspecs or novi's? i'm about to get a set of 48 blackjacks so i'll see how they work, but man the full specs and novi's are both really nice.

I have ran an older set of Full Specs in the past, but it was on a different motor. So I have not run a back to back test, sorry.
I think if someone has a set of carbs that is well tuned, then there's probably little to be gained by switching to another brand of carbs.

Yeah Matt, your ski is gonna suck next year. Itty bitty inefficient pump, lame ass non power valve cylinder, can't wait to be the first to laugh at you. Real men would spend 3x what your gonna spend for some polished up recycled beer cans with power valves.Lmfao

Well, the dude sends me a free t-shirt and stickers every now and then. I'm kinda limited on my budget, so I'm destined for 3rd world setups. As long as it's faster than my buddies, I'm happy.
I hope I don't step foot on any more PV motors. It was quite the experience last time.

Matt-a less sarcastic reply here...........

Tricky spent alot of time helping me dial in my Full Rectums because Ed Brazina (who makes them) could not, then I jumped on the Novi F bomb bandwagon and Tim (Novi Tec) asks me to let him know what ends up working because he don't have a clue-turned out it was simple to dial in but required tweeking with climate change, then Crammit let me bolt his BlackJacks on my ski and they were dead on right off the bat (totally different motors and diff setups). That told me that BlackJacks must be fairly forgiving. I bought a PAIR of BlackJacks for what 1 Novi cost me! (Brand NEW).

Long story short-IF you tell Art EVERYTHING and tell him the TRUTH-he sends you carbs and you bolt them up and MAYBE tweek the screws 1/8 turn either way and you are DONE!!! I have not touched my screws in 2 years now and carbs are always spot on. (Granted I do run MS109 so I always have my oxygen with me-in the fuel). IF you need 38s, I have a nearly new pair complete with everything on the bench. IF you decide to go ape and do the COMPLETE jetworks set up I can help you every step of the way. There are alot of little things that are free and easy that make the complete pkg work. I can even tell you how to run MS109 for 6.00 per gallon instead of 11.00 per gallon. LOL

Were they able to re-attach your arms?

F U Gil!!!! G'damn, it's freaking $13.89/gal here.
If I could figure it out at even $8/gal I'd run it straight.

read post 31-I did all this back to back to back on the same motor/same setup. What Matt says is somewhat true-any carb dialed in perfect is perfect. The problem can be getting them dialed in perfect. Art sends them out ready to rip therefore taking all the guess work out of it.

You know how I do it and I have tested back to back both ways and there is not enough difference to justify the crazy money to run it straight! If it made that much of a difference I would run the stuff straight!

How much is 93 pump gas out there?

I believe that the blackjacks are good, when I had the 48 he gave Kenny the specs on the jets I put them in and had Terry fine tune the ski, Terry said the jets were dead on the money. I'm going with blackjacks either way, my question was whether to go with one or dual 44s, dual 38s, or a single larger carb. Talking to Art does sound like a great idea before I do anything.

And to add a second part to my post - knowing that there is little to be gained from one perfectly dialed setup to the next, I think it's foolish to spend over a grand on a set of Full Specs or Novis, or even nearly a thousand on a set of mysteriously modded SBN 46's when I can get a set of BJ's for quite a bit less.
I know that customer support for most carb setups is excellent. I have dealt with only Brazina personally, but it was a good experience. I have heard good things about Tim @ Novi as well.
