Soooo-I get on the water 2day bout 11am-spent all week thinkin bout the mechanics of a backy vs. a barrell roll. Last week I made several attempts at barrell rolls and never can make myself stay committed-dammitt-hurts like hell-told myself all week-1st huge boat wake-tryin a backy. 11am-no big boats, noon-no big boats, 1pm-still-no big boats, 2pm-the queen mary of deck boats comes trolling down the slu-sp? and its full of 4 old people-oh well-jump its wake couple of times and they are givin me a :biggthumpup:
so-I roll up next to the driver-ask him to let me go get my helmet and I will try a back flip-he says sure. Took a few min toget him to realize that big wakes did NOT come from him goin 100mph-but trying to get it on plane and holding that position. He finally gets it right and after 5-6 perfect vertical jumps I committ like hell-got the ski perfectly flat upside down-started spotting my landing only to realize the top of my helmet was already in the lake-NO pain at all!!! It was fun!!! So now I know what is takes to do a backy and realize its is possible w/a huge wave in the gulf or some good double ups from boats. I WILL DO A BACKFLIP 360 THIS YEAR!!! Now that I have the confidence that it aint gonna kill me-I will try like hell!!!:cheer:

i need to go to lake michigan or someplace with some decent waves. the pond in my backyard just isnt cutting it.

glad to hear you have confidence!!! like pete would say, theres nothing to it, you just jump, pull, BRAAAAP, and there you have it.

I promise u-there is 0 pain involved-just don't let go of the ski-stay w/it!!!
The strongest attempt I had, my head was in the water and I was push/pullin soo hard, I actually finshed the rotation under water and rode out of it-lame as hell for a backy-but thrilled me to pieces. I'm goin to Orange Beach this coming weekend for some wave action at the pass-hopefully I'll get some vid of real backys.
