Type 9 Drypipe - SR-71 Hood?

Anyone know if a type 9 factory dry pipe will fit under a SR-71 hood?

Any help would be great

my buddy has the type 9 on his ski. that pipe is crazily awesome. I lvoe riding his ski with it.

I might even get one of those instead of a b pipe if/when i get a 701.

for a type 9 to work well, you need some serious horsepower..........

Patrick Bogart tried one when they first came out, he found that the B Pipe worked better.......

CG, I would go for the B pipe as well. Even if it gives up some high RPM power, it's simple, light, and extremely reliable.

I think you could gain a lot of power by running it with an EWCI thqat turns on starting at very low RPM (1500). I think most of what holds the B pipe back on top RPM's is all the water it has inside it.

I am using a type 9 pipe on my ski
i have v-force reeds
digital ignition
ported cylinder
girdle head
48novis
i guess you would call it a high horsepower ski
i have found that the type 9 does not give the throttle reponse for a good freeride ski

If you look at that dyno chart on Factorypipe.com, the B pipe makes more power up to 6500 RPM. So that combined with the weigh savings, simplicity, easy of installation, etc. etc. make the B pipe a better choise IMO.

I don't know if they were running ECWI on that dyno chart, but I think ECWI could significantly increase the lower RPM power on the dry pipe (and the high RPM power on the B pipe).

hey! I went and checked to see if the drypipe would fit the 24/7 SR71 hood and it does quite nicely...Iv attached a few pics, the first of the pipe, the second with the 24/7 hood latched on, and then a wammer hood..all fit nice and snug without any rubbing:Banane01:

thats not a type 9
so the shape is alot odifferent you have a type 4 there

Wax is correct, the Type 4 is totally different than the Type 9

The Type 9 is fatter on top, it even has a crease in it to clear the hoodseal area.

I think the type 9 might be too tall to fit.. i could be wrong tho.. I havent seen a 9 in a long time..
