Other turning only left..

It was the fifth time on the ski today at Markham Park. After being in the ocean, the lake is less fun now :).. Too many coach riders, figured waves from jetskis are not good, too many, small in random directions.. nothing like the ocean.
I still had tons of fun, got better with making rapid left turn with full throttle. I still have hard time making right turns.. whats up with this? :)

And last but not least the ski runs like a champ, again THANK you guys for your instant help with my little accident the other day :).

This board is great!

Well I've heard people say it's because the engine spins in a certain direction. I don't really buy that personally because I know everyone has an on and off side for just about everything. Waterskiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, etc... You're always more comfortable on one side than the other. Even a lot of airplane pilots prefer to turn one direction over the other.

Well there might be some truth to the engine spinning. When taking my motorcycle license class we were told to rev the engine up an ride the clutch when doing tight slow figure eights. It helps keep the bike more stable. Gyroscope effect??? I'm not a science expert so it may just be in my head and a bunch of bs.

I agree on the board. I just had an issue, 5 mins later someone responded with a solution.

How do you find yourself standing in the tray? I am right handed but ride with my right foot forward and find turning left easier. If I switch up my feet, it makes turning right easier.

Your ease of turning left has nothing to do with the gyroscopics of your motor, it has to do with your stance. Most riders find that turning backside, or looking over your shoulder and turning the direction your back is facing to be much easier. This effect is magnified with newbs also. Since you find that turning left is easier then you most likely have a "regular foot" stance, which means you predominantly ride with your left foot forward

I ride with my right foot forward all the and I love left turns. Like I don't want to turn right, ever! lol I have to make myself learn to turn right better.

It just feels weird for some reason, (wow, I just thought of this) it's probably cause I come out of the jetties, turn left, and ride left down the beach for about a mile and rest on the way back when I would be turning right doing my 3ft of air tricks, lol. Even when I hit a wave straight on I want to flop to the left.

If you are truely goofy foot and feel more secure turning left than right you have a very unique level of balance. Go buy a Power Ball Loto ticket right now before you lose that magical power

Well I am left handed and my right foot forward is how I have always rode and wake boarded. As I typed out that post I realized I do alot of left turns just cause of the way (direction) I ride down the surf. But left turns is all I can do when facing anything I'm trying to pull off. I used to surf a tiny, tiny bit and was right foot forward too.

You got me thinking about the lottery now! haha

I'm the same way. I usually ride both feet in the holds but I can't balance left foot forward (normal footed) and I am right handed. I can turn right fine but the quick 180's, nose stabs, and stuff like that, I struggle with if I go to the right. What's really funny is that I do a lot of slalom skiing and I ride right foot forward which makes the right hand cut my strong side. Go figure...

I think I need to join you on that ticket,... I too am goofy footed, and am much more comfortable going to the left.

So all you goofy footers who are feeling more comfortable on left turns actually prefer ripping around a bouy with your chest scraping the water over dragging your a$$ around a corner??? That truely amazes me. I'm not saying it isn't true, I'm just saying it amazes me. I guess all the racers who practice there switch foot stance so they can have their back to the water on every bouy have been wasting there time. I wonder why they even bother to do that if its not an advantage?

Yup, I was at the pay lake :) lol I didn't know it is called like that, but its really shame that they charge for Florida free swamp water :)..
It was full of coach riders, but I had my fun. I have done wake boarding at the west ramp, but you gotta ride a little to get to the wide part of the canal and I was with a couple friends who dont have skis. Everybody uses my ski now and I am the only one who makes the payments lol :)...

I definitely want to join other stand up guys and learn faster. PM me next time you guys go. I was gonna ask that in the group rides forum, where and when all the stand up dudes go in the area :), I talked once to a very cool family who were doing some training at the other lake with the buoys, but they are pro level and they said membership there is like $350 per year.

Right handed, right foot forward, goofy foot and turn much better to the left than right. I always turned toeside better on any kind of board. I think it is about being more able to see my line. Looking over my shoulder feels like I am going to have to turn my body too much. I know its not a problem but I have a mental block turning right.

I'm moved by DASA power!
I Ride with my feet in the holds most of the time now, turning isn't a huge deal on my new ski, it turns before I even think about it, it's like it know what it wants me to do. I find it easier to roll to the left than the right though it just feels easier.

Lol :) coaches coachers they were all annoying thats for sure :)... I'll see how will be my next Sunday and PM you.
