Freestyle Turfing Rokr Footholds - need help

Location
PNW
My footholds are too big for my size 10 feet, I would like to ad some 9mm padding on top of the footholds on my Rok-r. I have black molded diamond hydroturf on hand to cover the new padding.

I would like to add more padding to the outer radius for comfort as it is currently pinching the front of my ankle too.

Heat gun, padding and turf on hand, just not sure where to start.

suggestions?

When I turfed burtons rokr I used 25 mil on the bottom and a strip about 4" wide of 25 mil on top right over where your laces would be. I put 9 mil in the toe and on the sides so it wouldn't stub your toes when you kick it. It works perfect, it's like kicking into a pillow and your locked in tight. The 9 mil on the sides protects the ankles from getting banged up. I'm not a fan of enclosures but those holds are butter to kick into. I think I have pics of the process...I'll dig around and get them posted.

So big thanks to Joker for offering up some 25mm padding. I'm heading to Harbor Freight to grab a multi tool to remove old turf. I will post pics when I'm done.

Well unfortunately it looks like I never saved the pics I took of the process of that turf job but here's the finished product. The bottom of the tray has 25 mil with a layer of 9 mil from the back to where your heels sit while in the holds.

Jeff I by no means know how to turf but this was my first shot... I used an old scrap of boat carpet I had laying around to make templates and a sharpie of coarse.. I also learned that if u use a new blade for each time u do a cut in the turf the cut comes out cleaner so buy yourself a pack of 100 razor blades if needed... and for the inside of the footholds I used 9mm on top of my whole foot area and another 9mm strip about 1 inch and straight across from end to end on top of that just to make up for the minu gap on top of my foot area and if u dont understad what i mean i can take a quick pik and explain , and 25 mm on the bottom ..and also remember to leave extra turf hanging out for safety measures and I hope some piks explain what im saying. .. when I installed the padding inside the footholds I soaked the foothold and the padding with contact cement and immediately stuck them in and moved them around to my liking and I let it dry out for about 10 mins or so then I pressed them with my hand to get the hanging padding onto the hull... same goes for the turf part I did the same and in one of the pictures u will see the turf inside the holds drying and the extra turf hanging out and then placed where I wanted them then cut. I wish I could help in person but this is all I can do from miles away =) u can call me whenever as well! Oh and also now that Im uploading pictures n see what I did maybe u can get the hint to tape off areas where the glue might get on and I used a piece of cardboard as well to set my contact cement and brushes down and I also used about 6 brushes cause I took my time on each foothold and by the time u go to do the other side ur brushes get hard . The padding was also sanded down with a die grinder and 40 grit disk but its touchy so take ur time ..my next turf will be better ;)

If u look close at the turf it has glue on it where its dangling out cause I was letting the inside dry out and when it dried I simply folded over the excess and bam if sticks !
