I was hoping someone has had this same problem when removing their old turf. The old owner of my 750sx thought it would be a great idea to attach the turf and some foam pad material with silicone and what looks to be that GOOP Glue stuff. The crap wont peel off and the parts I can scrape still leaves this stuff behind. I have tried M.E.K. and Mineral Spirits with no luck. Any Ideas before I break out the Orbital sander ??

The secret to removing glue is brake cleaner. Once you rip the turf off hose it down with brake cleaner, let it sit for a couple minutes, then scrap it off. After a few coats of cleaner the glue will peal off with just your fingers. Your able to make your tray look like new in about 3 cans and 30 minutes. If you haven't used brake cleaner before do it outside, when using this much it gets a bit stinky.

But you don't want it to look like new: you want to rough the surface up so the new glue keys well. You kill two birds with one stone with a wire wheel: rips of the old glue in seconds and leaves the surface nicely prepped for new glue.
