I just sold my couch and now I just have my 650 sx. My friends and family are pissed that I want to get an 800 SX-R instead of a new couch because they want to be able to tube. has anyone ever pulled a tube with a standup? can it be done?

It might be possible, but it is completely illegal and if you have water cops or USCG anywhere in your area, you will get busted in a heart beat...

The law states that anyone towing a skier, tuber, etc... Must have a dedicated spotter onboard the boat (Ski) at all times. In most states the spotter has to be at least 16 years old... The boat doing the towing needs to have sufficient capacity for the driver, the spotter and anyone being towed...

That means you have to have room for everyone and if you have two people on the tube you better have a 4 place boat (or Seadoo LRV)... Last time I checked the SXR was rated for 1 person @ like 300 lbs max... So even if you put some one on the hood as a spotter I don't think you can get a third on there and get under the weight capacity...

Not to mention it is not safe at all... What will you do in the event of an emergency?... How would you get an injured or unconscious person to shore?

He tells the driver if and when someone falls of or gets hurt, etc... A couple years ago we had some dumb a$$ coucher on a two seat beater XP pulling his buddy around... Then the buddy fell off the tube... the driver never knew it until he got back to the beach...

Next thing you know we got the USCG and the Fire Dept and the Police Boats all doin a search for this guy... Finally another jet-skier found him almost a half mile away....

Yeah I hear ya that guy was a dipstick !
I personally have a hard time with these law's that will protect me from myself !
These law's are created because of stupid a$$holes that have no business owning a watercraft or a car for that matter.

I agree with you most of the time but on this one this is about everyone on the water's safety.
1) The driver should focus on driving not the tuber
2) The spotter should focus on nothing but the tuber
3) In the event of an emergency you need to have a way to transport everyone back to shore...

Using a stand-up doesn't provide for any of those being met...

all PWC's have a "person" rating - so weight wouldn't matter...an SXR is rated for 1 person only.

in TX, on a boat, you can tow as long as you have a sufficient sized mirror if you do not have a spotter...this rule does not apply to any PWCs

safety, without these "stupid" laws people would die every weekend out on the lake. say the lake is crowded as usual, tuber falls off and theres no flagger on board to warn the surrounding boaters of a person in the water.
this kinda stuff happens all the time WITH a flagger!

I do agree with you guy's on safety being number 1 priority and I also know why so many rules get created. I get so frustrated with people that can't back there damm boat down the launch ramp, or even dock there boat for that matter. let alone safely operating a huge couch, I get tired of all the rules being created because of stupid people that should not be allowed to own a boat or jet ski just because they can afford them. Just my RANT lol sorry. :censored:
