Tubbies - Chubbies - You know

Well, after seeing Tubbies on some SJ's at the Blowsion Beach Party, and talking to Mark about it, I spent some more time reading the pros and cons on both boards.

I went ahead and ordered 'em up - I am glad I did! I bought the Tubbies II, the official "Race" version.

Unbelievable! I can now lean the boat over as far as I am able to in turns - I never used to be able to do that.
I can actually just rip around now, do some carving. I had a blast these last couple of tanks. Well, I always do, but it was something new and a welcome change.

I did not notice any downsides to them. At first, I fought increased chine walk, but that went away very quickly. I am now able to haul ass full throttle just like before, without a problem.
I can still do turn subs.

In summary, a great handling improvement for any Superjet, well worth the money - Thumbs up! :arms:

Yeah it is a huge and welcome difference, especially to people like me that always rode lean in Kawis. You don't notice the left to right jerking motion going maybe 1/4 throttle? It goes away once on plane and moving a little faster. It is onlyh noticeable on smooth water though. No big deal because no one rides at that speed.

I did notice that. I got over it and it is not nearly as bad now compared to the first half hour.

I agree. It was just weird at first. I rode it to repeat it and held it there consistently for a goof and it rocked pretty good if allowed to get into a rhythm.

I agree, them there chubbie, tubbie, front sponson thingys are da bomb:Banane01: I got used to the chine walk phenomenon pretty quick and the overall benefits are huge. I recommend them highly.

I've seen the front ehaust done above the bond line when tubbies are fitted...yeah, it's loud, but who really ever cared about that?

I certainly don't care if some Aussie has a loud ski. It probably keeps the sharks away. :sneaky:

And I see what you mean now, Jared.
All around benefits, no disadvantages to speak of (that I personally notice or object to).

The front exhaust made the installation a bit more custom, but it was still easy. I simply measured where the Tubbie would go, and slowly and carefully cut the front of the Tubbie to match the exhaust outlet.
I talked to Mark @ Blowsion about the front exhaust, as I was worried about possible loss in handling performance for cutting the tubbie. He said that the front exhaust is already displacing water in that spot in place of the Tubbie, so it's not a big deal.

The only thing "bothering" me is that they're white, and my hull is (mostly) black. I'll paint it over the winter.
