Tubbies, 1 or 2?

I run the 2's..... They work great for rippin it up. I can turn on flatwater like an sxr and they are amazing in the surf too... When dropping in, it really helps keep the nose up and for riding the line they help too...

I think the product is very helpful for advanced riders all the way down to the beginner. Beginners can use them for stability while the more agggressive riders will be able to take it to a higher level than they would w/o them... I feel more confident w/ them, cause I don't worry as much about hitting bottom...

Hurrr...would it help me get the nose up for my aerials? What do the pros run?
Parr? Ratti? Geek? Maros? Pat? Stoyer?

Well I know,Joe kenny,Rick Roy,Taylor Curtis and alot of the Kali boyz such as Ross C use them,Pros are sponsored true, but if they were not working well for them im sure they would run without them.
I run the 1s on my roundie and I love the way they feel and corner,Ive riddin scotts in the surf with 1s and it really helped with pop off the lip and steep bottom turns, close to the face You have to have a sensitive feel for ski before and after to really know where they are helping you.I use to run the thin plexi sponsons, those sucked they might as well not have been there at all.I promise one thing,no one will put them on their ski and wish they werent there, not to say that their arent a few freaks out there that cant tell they are on there.:sneaky:

OK, I have 1's on my ski... I'm stuck riding flat water except for the occational trip to ride surf. I don't think they are necessary for flat water, nor are they a hinderance. I love them in the surf and I love the way my ski turns with them. My ski is a heavy tank and I hoped they would make the ski feel lighter by lifting the nose some... NOT! I really can't say that they make the nose of my heavy ski feel lighter. Not to get too technical, but with added hull surface area (creating lift) comes added drag. That drag keeps the nose stuck to the water a little more at low speeds - hence the handling improvements. But the actual lift on the nose doesn't happen until you have gained some speed.

All that being said... I am working on a new (to me) hull that I am hoping will be lighter than my current ski. Will I put Tubbies on it??????

NO...

Why so adamant about putting tubbies on a Round and not a square?
Because after riding my square for 10 years the moment I jump on a round nose (with similar mods), the round nose feels more squirrely. I've also had others that have (only) owned round noses say my SJ feels more stable.

Yes, the bottoms are identical. The only thing I attribute the difference in the "feel" is the handpole mount location.

Which a lowered handpole bracket would solve.

I have wondered about the tubbies also, and whether it would help my riding style, or the handlling of the ski with my big arse on the back.:cool2:

More input please from riders that have them...:arms:

Ha! I actually agree with that. However, that's what I love about my roundnose - it is more squirrely. I prefer it that way.

Does that rule me out for Tubbies?
Maybe I ought to put them on my wife's square?

I have the rec tubbies on my square with a Wammer plate. The long plate takes alot away from the tubbies you really need to get your weight back to keep the back hooked up as the front end is alot grippier. The ski begs layed down hard in turns. It does not like to do turn subs at all. The chine walkin was an issue at first but once your used to them its no big deal unless you start getting lazy and don't keep the ski balenced well in a straight line. Also, when you let off the gas from a good clip its like slamming on the brakes.

these two types of superjets

Those with tybbies and those waiting to have them fitted

I resisted for a long time before i put them on
now i do not want to ride a ski with out them
they are are mandatory as a stainless prop

they help in the turns
in the rough
and in the surf
ok i am not a flat water free rider so i cant say if they are going to stuff up a turn sub
they dont stuff up a straight line sub i know that much

waxhead.. agreed they havnt stoped me from anything including turn subs, they are harder ,but thats fine thats what i got them for i dont want the nose going under unless i really push it to,Im more concerned about dropin in on a steep face and reintris, and bottom turns. I love them for all 3 of these reasons

Turn subs are fine for me! It take a touch of extra speed and a little more oomph, but again, after a while, you don't really notice. It's a like like living right next to a railway where trains are shunting...after a while, you don't even notice.

I'm 6'-3"190lbs and I'm laid all over the front of my ski... mind you I'm running a -6.5" pole too and my right foot is tucked in the front foothold... the nose still stays above water w/ that kind of turn.... Priceless....

those steep turns in the face and at the bottom feel so much better without the nose going under the wave and scrubbing all your momemtum. Love it cant wait to put my own SJ in some big surf with em.Scotts hull with em even felt lighter than mine in the front in that kinda surf turn.didnt tug me over the front.
