I've recent completed a 1100 63M in a Waveblaster 2 conversion. The engine was bone stock from the donor Raider, and the only thing I did with it besides rebuild the carbs was to remove the choke plates and add a primer, and rebuild the carbs.
I used the factory N&S (1.5) and jetting, but I have 3 problems:
1. If I yank the throttle hard off idle, boat will stumble and then start running great. Opening the low speed screw past the 1 1/8+1/4 turn recommend values help this, so I am thinking pop-off. I changed from the factory gold springs (115 grams) to dull silver (95 grams), but the problem persists.
2. If I ride at WOT, let completely off, and the pull throttle, ski dies every time. A touch of the starter restarts it to idle right away. Thought this might be siphoning past the fuel pump, so I went from the flimsy feeling green stripe disks to the firmer blue stripe disks on a 44M rebuild kit inside the fuel pump.
3. The idle speed adjuster has the expected impact out of the water, but in the water, a 1/4 turn does not seem to affect idle speed - really weird.
So, a couple of questions:
Should I go to weaker springs?
Should I add more anti-siphon disks?
Could a lower end air leak "look" like problem #2? I didn't pressure test this motor before it went in...
