Here is the build on my 4 place trailer.

I have a lot of skis. It’s nice to be able to bring out the whole family and have skis for everyone. So, I picked up a 1993 VM dual ski trailer.

Here is the trailer as I bought it. Really solid foundation to start from. C channel frame construction. The trailer is (outside fender to fender) 101.5 inches. Plenty wide to fit 3 across the back and long enough to have 1 across the nose.

Previous owners had added some stuff to make their configuration work. The welds were not up to snuff and the gauge of metal was too thin for my liking. So, cross member for nose pins and all bunk supports had to go.

Here is the trailer withe new nose pin cross member and bunk bracket mock up.

Then bunk mock up to ensure proper spacing.

For the ski across the nose of the trailer, I added an upright nose brace. I don’t like just relying on tie downs.

With all the added weight, I wanted to update the axle and suspension.

I bought a new dexter 3500 galvanized axle with stainless spindle seal surface! Heavy duty leaf springs.

I also added trailer brakes because I drive a heavy truck and the trailer weight and 4 skis adds up. Plus the place I ski had road access withe elevation drop from 3000t to 900ft. Quite the grade.

Now that the foundation/welding/moving parts of the trailer we’re done… time for powder coat.

I chose prismatic powder dark grey sparkle.

Dexter10 inch nevr adjust. Electric. I’ve done extra sealing on connectors. I know I know. I plan on disconnecting before launching and generally I don’t need to submerge the wheels anyhow to get my skis off. The one on the nose will have to be lifted .

Wiring in process. Making it unnecessarily complicated because I am that way for some reason.

Having trouble with brakes for some reason. Does t seem like controller recognizes when I wire them in… I don’t get a reading for applying gain. Should be simple with two wires. Verified my controller is sending a pulse all the way to wires but when I hook them up voltage drops to zero.

Any gurus out there that can help?

Awesome work. Really curious to see how you mount and end up liking that bow stop. I need to do something better for my Freak and the wifes SXR on our trailer.

Very nice build! It's really coming together nice. Curiously, how much did the powder coat job run you? Did they blast and prep too? - When I rebuilt my trailer I went the rustoleum route, sprayed from a cheap gun. Yours turned out way better for sure.
