trailer bearings

If your going to go through the trouble and pull them to inspect, replace them.

Are you taking the kids? Can you imagine what it will be like working to replace the bearings on the side of the road?

DO NOT FORGET A SPARE TIRE!!!

I have installed (drill hole and screw in zert) grease zerts on all my dust caps so I can pump some grease after each ride. This way, even if water gets in there it does not stay for long.:woot:

Or for $13 you can get the spring loaded bearing buddies that do that, PLUS keep a slight pressure on the hub to help keep water out.

See, I had never heard of such "Bearing Buddies" before. Sounds good though. I think i'll stick with my altered dust caps for now. But i'll sure look into BBs.

in theory, the spring in the BB allows you to pressuris the hub slightly to keep water out, but keep from blowing your seals.

If you simply pumped away on that grease zerk you would blow grease past the seal.

dang, all this brings back memories, this stuff is MESSY.
