There's a lot to do before you go TL.

IMO Pipe, MSD Enh or EPIC, Head, Carb work, Mag pump...

I think TL is best for the bigger motors

A modern T/L, among other things, can make throttle response noticeably faster. Problem is that the engine will make no more power than stock.
