Question for you total loss guru/veterans:

How succeptable to heat are the MSD TL brain units?

The setup manual says to stay away from excessive heat like waterboxes, chicks in G strings, or exhaust manifolds.

Have any of you guys actually experienced any problems with these being a few inches away from the exhaust manifolds?

What about coil(s) placement? It looks like a lot of you guys run them pretty close to the brain on some of your enclosures.

The setup manual says to keep the coils approx 12 iches away.

Thanks in advance for any sage advice.

Follow msd installation instructions. Mount the brain in original ebox location. You know the rules.

Just got mine to. putting the brain in a pelican case. mounting in the original ebox location hopefully. is there a thread that has some settings that people are using or is it straight forward to setting up curves. have not got a chace to print off the manual. Sorry for thread jacking.

the exhaust manifold shouldn't get hot enough to hurt it. the coils can be close, just make sure they are always grounded to something.

I want to relocate my E Box so that it allows me to move my engine back 2 inches. That presents a challenge, as my options are then limited to either the left rear corner, which puts the E box guts close to the PFP exhaust manifold, or sandwiched inbetween the PFP waterbox and fuel tank. And that, is not exactly a cool, comfy place for E box guts as well.

But, my other concern... is that I see many setups with the coils mounted adjacent to the MSD brain, and that contradicts what the setup specs call for (12")
