Other Torque wrenches? whats everyone useing?

I have a few harborfreight ones and a craftsman, neither one is very good for ski work. I need lower ftlb measurments and dont like to mathmatically convert from inch pounds(I have been known to botch the math once or twice). So Im in the market for one. Dont want to spend a lot of money, but I want accuracy. Whats everyone use?

Mas dollar bills. I already owe snap on too much money for auto diag tools, plus I have 2 air tools broken from them, $125 a pop for rebuild, so im upset with strap on right now. Looking to go alittle cheaper. But I do agree they make nice digital wrenchs, especially when doing torque to yeild, makes it super easy.

I've got a Craftsman in inch pounds and the metric equivalent, an SK in 10 to 100 foot pounds and the metric equivalent (the one I use the most) and a Craftsman in 20 to 150 foot pounds and the metric equivalent. All click stop. They have all served me well since I've gone through 18 motorcycles, 17 cars and trucks and 7 PWC plus lawn tractors, compact utility tractors, ATVs, etc., etc. In a foolish moment, I bought a HF once. I could tighten a bolt till it clicked, retry and it would turn some more till it clicked again and I could do this 2 or 3 times. That one was worthless. I gave it to my brother but warned him about not trusting it for anything sensitive. You are looking for a precision type tool, why trust a cheap one from China?

I've got a gear wrench 20-200 in/lbs and a CDI(made by snap-on) 50-250 ft/lbs. I like both of them, they had excellent reviews. I need to get a good mid range one now or just get a nice digital that covers everything.

A inch pounds is going to be the most accurate for working on skis, or anything under 20 ft lbs. Torque wrenches are slightly iffy tools. You learn this when you take a few in for calibration, and find even brand new snap on wrenches out of calibration.

Dont bang your tq wrench on anything, dont loosen with it, and keep it in its biox and only ever use it for torquing. Take it in to be calibrated every yr. Otherwise, and inaccurate tq wrench can be the absolute worst tool you ever owned.

DONT BUY CRAFTSMAN TQ WRENCHES!!!! SEEN 3 BREAK AND THEY ONLY WARRANTY FOR A YR WITH RECEIPT

I agree with sparkplug, craftsman used to have some pretty decent tools for the money but their quality has gone down hill. I guess they are trying to compete with Northern Tool and Harbor Freight.

Some of the Craftsman tools are made in China and other countries, such as the Dominican Rep. Some of the tools are only assembled here in the U.S., with the materials coming from other countries.

I have Clicks from Craftsman...I am pretty sure they are made in the US. I prefer the click over digital, as long as it's calibrated often.

I've seen the digital go south in a hurry with low batteries too. Keep them charged IMO. The digital is nice to watch the increase or just use the audible when it's hard tp see the screen.

I never use them to remove anything ever...Only to tighten...that's my 2 cents on the subject.

Why do you hate it? Mines the 3/8 and i wouldnt trade it for anything else I've used.

I had a perfectly good snap on 3/8 clicker type before and thought going to the digital would be better, I ended up with one that would cut off constantly when using it or if you watch the screen on it it will beep or vibrate within a few foot pounds of my desired torque. at least with my clicker i felt like when it clicked I was there.

I have owned one or two Craftsman. Junk. I bought a "cheap" one at an auto parts store and won the shorty kind that WATCON use to sell. The auto parts TR has been perfect. The shorty works but I believe the dials are not calibrated. When the "0" "10" or "20" is lined up they are off the mark by a good bit. If I need something to be exact then I grab the cheap TR!
