I have a reed 550 with very large pistons not the standard over size (second from max available) The case were machined for the large bore. The ocean pro head was bought new and stock squish. The compression is off the chart 250 ish I put all the metal gasgets I own to lower it justto crank it over. I guess my Q is whom can machine a 550 head/squish or does anyone have one for sale that ran into this before,Thanks.

Its all brand new rebuild, stock is 530 the 76.75 prox make it 555cc. Maybe the head is milled from the start to make a stock engine high comp.

Can you shim it from the bottom like a stroker plate?

it'll alter port timing so all he can do is recut the squish.
try harry klemm at group k or dan at jet world i'm sure they still have the tooling for 550's . a decent machine shop could do it but probably more $$$ as they'll need to set it up.

250 with stock timing just run it. Well run it on race fuel but run it. I ran my 01 SJ with 230 for over a year. I had an old 650 that pushed close to 280 for about a week. Until it pulled the head bolts out and blew a head gasket. Crazy bottom end pull but that is what we're after anyhow.

is this motor goig into your XFT hull?! LOL!

It would be third inline. Setting on the shelf is a virgin lpw complete 760 and stock bottom end short block. New gasgets domes and rejets to transfer head, intake tl, and exhaust. also still in the box a new 6mm crank. But I would trade the crank for new 49 full spec Complete carbs set up.
