how is that possible? were they dragging it behind them????? didnt it rip out the stern eye????

I saw the same thing on tv. Unhooked it from the truck, got in the boat and took off with the trailer still under it.

Some tool ran into me and three other boats at Havasu marina last spring. He was in a brand new 25+ chapparal and people were pissed. I could care less since he barely nudged me and I was driving a pontoon boat so no damage but the other two were mad...he just left and they followed him. Im sure he got in some trouble.:cheer:

I just got back from the Florida keys and when I was there I saw a center console rental boat coming into get gas. There were 4 grown men on board and appearently they had the best guy driving. When they pulled in they started to head towards one boat so they gave is gas and headed towards another boat. The other boats anchor was sticking over the front of the boat. Panic strikes and the driver gives it gas. Ripped the canopy top off, all the straps and the screws that hold them in got ripped out of the fiberglass, and they broke three fishing rods.

All they did was just back out and leave. I am sure it costs them thousands.

wanna talk stupid boaters? Being in the repair buisness I've seen everything from burnt up engines from leaving the flush attachments on outboards to getting calls from customers cause their boat won't start only to find out it's in gear or the saftey lanyard was pulled. I've seen one old man pull up to the gas station open his gas cap and stick the nozzle in his rod holder and commence filling his bilges with gas (luckily I saw gas coming out of the boat plug).Seen people hit bridges, piling's, and docks:banghead: sorry just had to rant and rave a lil' bit:woot:

So last year I meet a friend of mine to go wakeboarding. It was after work, so the boat ramp was empty and he had his boat lined up to go in. I quickly threw my gear in his boat and hop in his SUV to back the boat in.

I'm about halfway down the ramp when I hear him in a panic yelling something inaudible and all I caught was "....... STOP!!!" Naturally, I hit the brakes.

Well, unknown to me, he had recently not only waxed the boat but used spray silicon on the bunks so that it would be easier to load and unload. He had also decided to do a "quick launch" and had disconnected both the chain and strap.

Turns out the inaudible was "DON'T" ahead of the "STOP!!!". Apparently the boat began sliding back.

You can imagine what happened when I hit the brakes. The good news was that only the back fell off and onto the concrete bending both the prop and the rudder but leaving the shaft and transom without any damage whatsoever. And with the nose still on the trailer, we were able to get it back on in about 30 minutes.

I knew a guy that had an internal filler neck on his ski. He forgot about it, and used the EXTERNAL filler. 10+ gallons later he realised something didn't seem right. "550's don't hold THAT much gas, do they?"

lol jeez i like it to when they back it up and it slides off in the water and they gotta go swim for it and then finds out he cant drive it bcuz the keys for it were in the truck!!! lol

Ohh also the dumb asses with the minivans trying to pull out the big boats, and as the front tires are spinning they stand on the rear bumber (yeah that should help ya...) I kept yelling for them to stand on the front, but never figured it out.... they put the boat back in the water and never pulled out, just made the boating day longer...[/QUOTE]

Thats funny my buddy uses his work minivan sometimes to launch the ski's. He does mobile detailing and the van is full with generator's and water tank's and the ramp we use is very rocky. You'll catch me sitting on the fender bouncing up and down trying to get the bitch to hook up. I'm sure its quite comical if you watch so if i see anybody laughing its cool i'm usually laughing harder then they are.

speaking of backing up quickly and sliding the boat off...

just about 2 days ago there was a family at a ramp with a pretty large boat. so the dad gives his (about) 6 year old son the rope that is attatched to the boat . the dad attempts to be fancy and quickly reverse it and stop to slide the boat off. well he forgot about his son that was still holding on tightly, and as the dad floors it backwards, the kid goes flying off the dock into about 2.5 feet of water. :pat:

I have seen the trailer thing.

A couple buys a brand new 22ft bowrider with 150 V6 yammy. Pick it up sat morning.

Monday morning they call the dealer and irately complain about its lack of performance. Dealer apologises and asks to bring the rig in and they will sort it out straight away.

Head tech. checks engine, prop selection, engine height, controls etc. then takes it to the water. It runs killer! Call owner and ask him to pick up his boat.

Next saturday morning same thing, irate owner on phone. Dealer sends two techs to the beach with tools, props etc. where irate owner is waiting. Techs notice a winch post sticking out of the water and a hitch on the beach.

Problem solved!

I live in a city where many people who own waterfront property and have their own private boat ramps. Most of these ramps have no road access so when you sell them a boat or couch, the go is to tie the trailer under the vessel and slowly motor from the nearest ramp to their house. They then use the trailer as a ramp dolly with an electric winch. I have had many a comment from people along the lines of, "hey mate, the trailer is still attached!" I usually reply, " this is an anphibious seadoo, first one in the country!" or " thanks bud!, (pointing into the water over the bow) can you see my car?"

I also saw a couple who must have bought their first boat, which was a alum. john boat with outboard motor. Well as I was watching someone out on a jetski out on the water I see them back down, but don't pay much attention. I hear a *BANG* and turn around to see them pushing the boat off of the trailer and onto the ramp. Well turns out the couple didn't think they could get the trailer wet... haha, ahh good times...

I can't wait for spring. At a local marina they show the new water cops how to launch and drive the boats. I like to be there for that with a lawn chair and a beer in hand. You have no idea how hard it is to back up a trailer until you watch these folk...
