Do you guys worry about alligators while ridding in little inland ponds like that???

yeah. I had a pretty close call with one in the St. John's, but I only knew he was there after he became dis-interested and flopped as he swam away from about 5 feet. Florida grows some pretty healthy gators. Some of the FL crackers aren't scared of them, but I was always pretty nervous in the fresh water down there.

yeah, that is about .25 miles from the ocean via an Inlet...

we don't ride in ponds or lakes here...

So....none of your "stand-up" guys ride freshwater lakes in FL????

I am going to be living near Lake Tarpon and I am sure I will be tempted to ride my superjet/fx-1 on it.

I don't want to only ride saltwater becasue it corrodes everything!

Felix-Hope the ski is running again for Daytona! Should be a blast.

I hate gators and I'm terrified of them. But the more scary thing in freshwater is the ameoba.

"United States
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the amoeba killed 23 people between 1995 and 2004.

In August 2005, two Oklahoma boys, ages 7 and 9 were killed by N. fowleri after swimming in hot stagnant water of the lakes in the Tulsa area.[7]
In 2007, six cases were reported in the U.S., all fatal:[8]
In July, the amoeba caused the deaths of three boys in lakes around Orlando, Florida. Possible causes of the infections include higher temperature and droughts in that area of Florida.[9]
In late summer, the amoeba caused the death of a 12-year-old boy and a 22-year-old young man in Lake LBJ in Texas.[10][1]
In September, a 14-year-old boy was killed by the amoeba after likely having caught it while swimming in Lake Havasu in Arizona. The doctors suspected meningitis before the boy died, but did not know the etiology until the CDC confirmed it as N. fowleri.[11][12]
In August 2008, a 9-year-old boy was killed after having been exposed to the amoeba while swimming several times in Lake Elsinore in California. The boy was the first ever confirmed case in Riverside County.[13] "

then you dont want to ride lake tarpon. it's has a poop load of gators.

I personally don't worry about gators at all... as long as I remember to untie the raw chicken from my balls.

gators are like big toothy teddy bears.

Lake Tarpon is pretty big, I wish I could hear from people that have taken there stand-ups out on it and lived to talk about it??

I would have thought that there would be at least a couple people on here or PWCtoday.com that actually live on Lake Tarpon and tell me just how often they come "face to face" with gators.

Couple years ago I was out on that lake with people that were wake boarding. They would fall and have to just sit in the water and wait for the boat to come back........No thanks!

The owner of the boat had said that all the gators stay on the shore and never ever come out to the middle of the lake........10 minutes later we all see this huge alligator making his way out to the middle............made me question the guys intelligence!

dude ... you worry too much about gators and saltwater, yet you have been saying for a year you are moving to Florida. :261:
I guess you better sell all your skis before you get here , which would be shame (for you).

You'll see, once you are down here that saltwater is no big deal.. they salt the crap out of the roads up there right? you know what that does to your fancy new cars? I say better a little salt on my ski then my car. I see saltwater skis that look better than freshwater ones all the time.

Lakes are booooorrrrrrrring to ride so who cares if there are gators . They will not screw with you, get over it (might actually make lakes fun if they did come after you). They only bite drunk dumbasses that go swimming naked in channels or ponds at night.

#0... I saw that gator when they pulled it out of Tarpon, that pic does not do it justice. :eek:mfg: :shhh:

Lake Tarpon is awesome. I go out there all the time. I have seen smaller gators out there, but as long as you ride in the middle of the lake (it's HUGE), you won't see a single one. I have even swam half the length of that lake with my dead ski in my hand, and didn't get so much as a nibble. LOL Great lake, though.

Don't think of it as corrosion, think of it as a natural loctite.

As far as gators, I ride freshwater lakes alot and use them as log jumps. You can ride up to them and they let you pet them.

Dont be afraid of salt, spray it down well and antisieze your head bolts and pump bolts and your good to go.

Every lake in FL has a gator in it or has potential to have a gator in it. The St.Johns river dumps into the Atlantic and its full of gators.

Lake Ivanhoe is a lake near downtown Orlando.

oh, yeah.......test rode it today and all systems a go. READY FOR THE RIDE
