to flex or not to flex...

...that is the question.

So what are everyone's opinions on using a flex additive when painting skis, a SuperJet for example? Is it worth it or not? I've heard both stories. Going to be using PPG Omni single-stage acrylic enamel (unless there's a good reason to do BC/CC).

I used PPG Concept 2000 bc/cc, no flex agent, and over 4 years later it's still fine, no stress cracks and my ski wasn't reinforced for the first 2 years of that. I think I used Omni on my wife's old 550 and it was fine too, sprayed pretty nicely and was very shiny/smooth.

Using flex additive is something you should consider. It's based on the same concept for which a flex agent is added to plastic bumper covers on automobiles. If you don't add it, sure, it may look good for a year or two, but over the long haul it's not going to hold up.

I agree with Doug.
I worked on my JS550 which i added the flex additive and it looks fine.
After pulling parts of the jet drive i painted some areas and they cracked. had to strip, sand and repaint again. I add it all the time now.
