About to drill and tap my factory pipe mani for dual cooling. But I need some advice because I really don’t want to f**k it up lol. Any tips? Is there a particular location to drill out? I know the general location where it should be but just want to check with those who have done it before to make sure I don’t ruin my brand new manifold! Advice is appreciated and a pic would be super helpful, thx!

Match the location like it is on the other fitting, meaning same place on the boss basicly. Pull out your other fitting if you want and see how thick the casting is, so you'll know when you've drilled thru to the water jacket, obviously don't go thru the other side into the exhaust port. You can google the drill size for the tap you'll be using, but you might already have that. When you start tapping the threads, be carefully with side loading the tap, as they can break off, just take it slow. You'll be fine...

You'll notice that the 1/8-27 taper pipe tap calls for a (letter size) Q drill bit. That does not usually float around in most tool boxes, so.... just use a 21/64 drill which is just 4 thousands smaller than a Q - close enough. Most importantly, try to use cutting oil (or if none are watching reg. oil, or even penetrating oil) on the drill bit as well as the tap. That makes for nicer threads. Also: repeatedly withdraw the tap and check the tapered hole for proper fit with your brass fitting- don't go to deep! If you should thread the hole to deeply, the fitting will run out of threads before it seals- in that case just wrap it with several layers of Teflon thread tape.
