Spray your engine compartment down with w d 40 and just left the motor when you get home.you'll love the rok on the surf.its really easy to ride. Once you get used to surf... FlatWater will never be the same...

Don't go too crazy if your hull isn't reinforced. I cracked my hull on my first surf ride. Got a $600 carbon fiber job the next week.

Make sure your bilge pump works and the hose is connected tight (almost sank my first time out and once since then from losing the bilge hose and having the pump die).

Don't hit bottom on nose stabs or tail landings. I've lost a coupler and many motor mounts doing this.

If you're driving 6 hours bring tools and some spare parts. I drive about 4 hours each way to ride pismo and have broken down after 20min a few times. It is not a happy ride home.

Don't ride alone

Flush the ski well after, or take it for a good freshwater ride before putting it back in the garage.

Enjoy it - the surf beats flatwater any day!

salt away and lots of it when you r done riding. flush ur engine with it wash the extrior and engine compartment with it the stuff is awesome.

blidge and limiting rope two main things. and after your done riding for the day make sure to let your ski run dry so you don't have any standing water in you motor. it well be good until you get home and flush out since you can't really do it at pismo. every thing else is just preference on what you want to do. i normally rinse my ski then spray the motor with wd40 and leave the hood open so water can dry up as it sits. just doing this and my ski runs great for only being in the surf.

Maybe I'll get it all the way around NEXT time....

Fluid Film works wonders for keeping the salt from giving you heck later on. Spray the engine down with it and ride! CRC makes a product that works well too, but I can't remember the name...

limit rope also a must! dont leave your engine cover on when your done riding, always crack it open so you dont get condensation.

I'm not gonna be Rollin, flipping, or stabbing till I learn the ropes of free riding. All this stuff will be on the ski but not the first time. Just wanna learn how to maintain it cuz it is mainly a freshwater freestyle ski

Limiting rope is good even for jumping boat wakes... if the ski gets away from you with the pole up, and hits pole first, good bye nose or pole. My ski has a scupper and it works GREAT in the surf, but I've got a stock bilge and a Rule 500 in there too. Fluid Film is THE stuff for surf riding protection.

def need a bilge...if the wave flips your ski the scupper will help sink it faster....

Spray it down with some silicone or wd40 before your ride and then just ride it again in fresh water within a few days and it'll be fine. Spray it down with WD when your done.

hood straps..unles you have the waterdawg latch..that should hold the hood on.

HAVE FUN...stay on the gas and hit the waves at an angle until you get used to them.

Just ride and have fun, don't go out past your comfort zone, tow loops are good, and don't let go...

i like to cable tie the kill switch on so its always open circuit even when in the dam i never ride with a lanyard (no rules here in South Africa)

reason i do that for surf is you don't want to be messing around trying to get that lanyard on and get your motor started while in the shore or mid break

play in the back-line jumping the rolling waves until you get the hang of it

im not sure how big shore and mid break waves are like there but just hit them don't be shy you'll either go thru the foamy or over it

and most important just hold on and have Fun
