SX/SXi/SXi Pro timing retarder on msd enhancer

Is going to be a good idea for me to put a the msd retard module on my enhancer if I am running 170psi on my engine? The reason I ask is because it is hard to find one of those modules and I dont want to put this thing in and it doesnt run right. I do have the timing advance installed as well.

I would'nt run it without it. You might have low enough compression to get away with it. I'd spend the $30. I have one, my buddy didn't. We were racing back to the harbor on a flat day. His ski didn't sieze but it started to not run right. We popped the head, and his pistons looked like a scoop of ice cream that was melting! Funny! as long as it's not you.

when running msd enhancer and timing advance plate it allows you to run WOT without melting your engine

Kinda a goofy system , but it works.
The Enhancer bumps up the timing in the midrange but it's actually retarded on the low end
So, you need the timing advance plate to put it back up there for a snappy lowend
But, if you have too much compression you'll detonate. The timing retard is a resister that pulls timing out as the RPM's go up.
If you run an Enhancer you should really run the advance plate and retard module(does that make sense)Too. It's a system.All three together work pretty good. If your not going to do all three do just the $20 advance plate. It's a close 2nd for a lot less coin.

I have an MSD enhancer only on my 750sx with 175psi per cylinder. Does this mean that the enhancers are predominantly used for racing machines rather than freestyle if they retard at low rpm? Would i see a massive difference if i run this Enhancer / advance / retard module setup compared to just an enhancer setup?

If so looks like i will be looking for an advance plate and retard module! :burnout:

Yes, it will be noticable. Enhancers alone suck off idle untill midrange.
