Timing off on my SXR..

Did I shear a flywheel key or is my CDI junk? I'll pull the flywheel this week and if the key is good that just leaves the CDI correct?

Won't start and but will kick in the opposite direction (lookin at the driveshaft) and then a BIG backfire.

Might be a sheared woodruff key. If the flywheel key way is chewed up or the key is sheared you would see this kind of problem. Could be something electrical too. I've seen this happen when a friend installed the wet pipe the water temp bypass wasnt makin good contact, it was constantly back firing.

I will pull the flywheel and check and bypass sensor. If those are good I'll put on my spare stator and see if that works. If it is the CDI is there a way to get it reprogrammed or is it junk now?

I run the Advent T3 and one of the techs had told me as long as the sticker is on the CDI unit itself then they would always honor the warranty. Im not sure what they can do for the stock CDI's.
