So I decided to pull the motor on the 300SX today and see if I could fix the ignition issue,I am running a Brand new Westcoast dual total loss system that I bought in pieces off of Ebay.It has a knob for external timing adjustment similar to a RAD COVER,you loosen four allen head screws and turn the knob to adjust the timing then retighten the allen screws.

Problem #1 I just happened to turn the knob and I saw the wires move,it is not supposed to turn after you lock it down.So I pull it apart and you can see where the stator plate has been doing a little dance in the cover, there is no telling where the timing was at.After removing some material on the hold down collar with a grinder and orbital sander the stator plate now stays put when you tighten it down.

Problem #2 somewhere along the line I decided it would be a good idea to install NGK plug caps on all four wires. Not a good idea, those are resistor plug caps which I found to have about 5k ohms resistance while testing the coil wires. That would explain the ignition miss.

Now if I can remember where I put the DAMN spark plug boots that I took off to put these on I might just be able to ride this before it gets too damn cold.Either that or I am ordering some MSD boots and going about my business.BTW my MSD system on my X2 works just fine with NGK boots on it,I am thinking this system does not have near the spark energy of an MSD system though.:lightning:
