Freestyle Timing affect on jetting?

DASA1200 - MSD TL
How much does timing affect jetting?
At 28deg, LS screw is at 3/4 and low to mid is still rich. At 30deg, LS screw is at 1.5, and is smoother/cleaner, power about the same.
Is this normal or is the 30deg detonating and using the extra fuel?

The bottom screw is most effective at idle . The pilot/popoff is in play as soon as you crack the throttle. Overly rich mixtures will need more spark lead. This combination is what provides the good throttle response that we like. A clean pilot/popoff with 35 degrees will often be detonating. I watched a couch melt a piston going 10mph for 5 minutes because of this tune.

Running 30deg static now.
Based on how much the LS screw was being turned, pilot jet would need to change 5-10(28deg vs 30deg)

I changed exhaust to centre-bleed and jetting has become far more consistent, same jetting now is 1T-LS and 1/2T-HS, going to drop HS jet by 5 as it is a little rich in midrange. At 3/4T-LS, it wouldn't stay idling, at 1-1,4T-LS it is slightly rich. Ski is running so much better than last week

Ski is also a lot quieter, which I enjoy and so do the locals.
