Timing 7mm stroker Able cylinder

Alright, I need some help. I have a 701 Able cylinder with 81.50mm bore, and a 7mm stroker crank. My ignition is stock with rev limiter mod. I need to know what to set my timing at and how to do it since I am a newbie at the stroker game. The cylinder measures 3mm taller than a stock so I am supose that means it requires at least a 6mm stroker to even work. I have 61x cases and dual 44 mikunis. Please help for I am at wits end and at the end of my pocketbook!.:dunno:

I hate to say it but you might want to put it on a shelf until you can afford some sort of programmable ignition (MSD T/L, Advent or Wax Racing). A 7mm stroker will be very hard to get running with the stock ignition. Timing is ultra-critical on a stroker, especially at 7mm~8mm b/c the piston has a much longer dwell at TDC.

Besides that, what length are the rods and what type of pistons do you plan on running (flat-top or domed)? All of this will affect how you build this engine? it really should be planned out (and machined accordingly) by an experienced yami stroker builder (Paul Lehr, Chucky/Team Scream, Art/Jetworks, etc).

Sounds like what you have is far from needing the timing set at this point...

OK, so I looked at your posts again and at the ebay listing by the seller... From the displacement he lists this cylinder was likely setup for a 6mm stroker crank with stock length rods. Stock rods are 125mm, so with 7mm stroker crank and 133 mm rods, the pistons will travel 8.5mm higher than a 6mm stock rod crank!!! (IF MY MATH IS CORRECT) And of course the port timing will be off by a huge amount. NOT GOOD... Solution would be to find a spacer plate and/or run flat-top pistons. Please contact one of the builders I mentioned, they will be ABLE (pun intended) to go over the correct setup for you.
