Hey guys do you have a good online or national retailer to recommend to get time serts. Also what size do I need for the cylinder head bolts.

Thanks,
Brad

Timecert sells them directly. You need M8x1.25 for the inner thread.
Get stainless.

I have used helicoil in the past, but people say good things about timecerts.

Are they alot better than helicoils for the cylinder in applications where the head will be removed frequently?

Timeserts are certainly better but I've never lost a helicoil that was installed properly. In fact, I just pulled two helicoils that were installed improperly after 2 years of use only because I wanted to make them perfect. They were still going strong otherwise.

Doesn't seem like you need to drill as big a hole for heli coils, they're all stainless, and which ever you choose, they'll be stronger and last a lot longer than the original aluminum threads.

Some of you guys must have OCD to spend that much on fixing a thread. If it was a high dollar application I would consider time-serts...but those things are just outrageous.

I guess its not all that bad if you already have a kit or have access to an install kit..but otherwise its Helicoils for me. I have yet to have a properly installed helicoil go bad.

Thought I'd update everyone. I made a big mistake messing with the poorly installed helicoils. The 2 years of improper installation were flawless but I've had nothing but problems since I redid them. I changed the 2 helicoils in my FP manifold and have since burned through 3 more helicoils since I messed up a good thing. Now my exhaust manifold is so jacked up that I'm forced to drop the money on some Big Serts because the helicoil holes are jacked. So $85 for a big sert kit and I decided it would be smart to go with a 3/8-24 kit instead of the stupid M10x1.25 that you can never buy so another $15 for the bolts plus some spares. $100 worth of thread fixing...ouch!
