Hey all!
Took my ski to lake michigan last week! It was one of the coolest things Ive ever done. My ski ran perfect untill the end of the second day. We decided to make a run away from shore... We prolly got about two or three miles out, took a floating break and headed back. Haha luckly about 30 yards from shore I noticed my throttle was sticking. Beached it, pulled the spark arrestor off to find one of the screws on my butterfly valve gone. Butterfly valve just hangin there.. Barely made it back to the ramp. Pulled the head off my motor, no scratches, hope it blew out the exhaust and is not lying in the bottom of the motor waiting to blow my motor..:rant:Anyway I'd like to get a new carb. Also would like to stay on the single side. Am willing to get a new intake as well. What size is everybody running? I will have my B pipe on soon so may need a bigger carb?. Prolly get some reeds too. Boyesen or what kind? Got to get something done soon! Ready to ride.

Don't be banking on hope.
I'd be tearing that motor apart to make sure the screw isn't in the bottom.
I have had a topend destroyed by a butterfly screw.

Crap!!! I rode for about an hour after. It could still be in there though right?

b pipe? or limited pipe?

and im running a mikuni sbn 46 on an r&d manifold with r&d reeds and stuffers with a stock 650 flame arrestor.

i have a factory limited pipe and it is ported with race logic templates and I think it rips pretty good

Limited pipe oops. I'll look in the reeds first.. Then maybe I'll pull the motor. I just had it out last week to paint my bay!!

Stick with the keihin and save yourself the headache and bank ache from buying a mikuni and manifold. Mikuni's are easier to tune but if you already know the setting for your current keihin carb, just get another one used and set it up identically. Keihin's are excellent carbs. To prove it to you...my 750 and SJ are virtually identical mod for mod. My SJ is more fun but I still think the 750 has more power even though it has a 40mm keihin and the SJ has a 44mm Mikuni.
