Tigercraft Aquabot V2 build

Coxxy, give me a holler after your homecoming and we can kick it around lake Asbury or maybe even hit Drs lake and you can figure out how you wanna set yours up.
For sure man, I'm pretty much set on the Aquabot. I just wanna try one out before I drop the cash lol. Either way man, I'm down to just get out and ride with some other guys on stand ups.

Heard that! Felt like I was kind of hanging it out buying a hull I had never ridden! Worked out well though. Riding one will also help you decide what options you want. Tony asked me about all kinds of stuff when I first talked to him, stuff I had no idea about. A lot of it I just asked him what he recommended or said "no" if it added much $.

Always looking for other stand up guys to ride with too! The group outta Hugo (Tanner calls it Hugo Hero's, pretend you hear Hogans heros theme when I'm there) is some great guys but it seems lately I'm never able to make the times and days they go. Also nice to have some more local folks too. Riding with couches just isn't my bag anymore. Everytime we scoot Lake Asbury or Black Creek we get people asking us about the stand ups. Shoot, even at the gas station…"they make those things anymore?" Answer:"well, sit down for a minute, let me tell you about the stand up community…." LOL-ing out loud….

LMAO :D I get those questions all the time. Whenever they ask if they still make em I tell them I've got an '87 and a '13. Plus I'm sure with that new hull you get even more looks. I know all the stand up guys I talk to are all down to earth and chill when it comes to new people since everyone is trying to get the community to grow. I've never ridden surf but once I get that hull I plan on hitting it up cause you need less power/money lol for the bigger waves compared to flatwater.

Money is going to be a limiting factor for me as well only because I want to have enough left over to put some cash in the motor and pump. Hull if for sure the priority though.

I didn't believe it at first but I definitely do now that the hull is the place to start. Rather than building engine first in a stocker, put all your stocker stuff in a a/m hull then build you ideal motor/pump etc. there are some big motors in the group I ride with but most of them have 701s bored a little over.

You are right about the surf, you can have a blast on a stocker with a couple of "safety" mods like tow strap, bilge, limiter strap.

I'm gonna keep my SJ stock cause it came with 3 yr warranty and I like having a back up ski. Imma be building the aquabot from scratch with a few goodies like a b-pipe and nothing too crazy. As I get a lil cash here and there make changes and eventually go crazy on the motor. I've got a few other buddies that will be on board with Hugenot so it's gonna be a blast next summer.

Should have never let him on it! now my 11 YO wants an Aquabot! He came putting back to the dock, "this thing rips Dad! When are you gonna build me one?" Yeah my old SN superjet just isn't
good enough for him anymore….

I just saw the pic man, it looks sick in the water. Gotta get some footage up of you ridin it. Just a heads up you needa move your registration up to the nose, I got a warning from FWC for putting mine on the back like that. By the way how'd you end up registering yours, homebuilt or sj hull tag and title?

So what's your ride report on it after some rides under your belt?
I'm loving it! Everytime I ride it, it gets better. I was outta state for 6 weeks (couldn't take the ski :( ) got back on it when I got home and it is just so natural. I'm still not that skilled so mostly I'm sliding 180-270s, doing nose stabs and 180 broncos. Haven't had the time to get out to the surf recently. Missed the hurricane waves here by one day! bummer. But I gotta say I really like this hull.
I am particularly happy with the predictability of sliding vs cornering. You can totally sling this thing around a turn sliding like flat track racing on a motorcycle. Feather the throttle a little to keep moving then bang the bars over against the stop again with a little blip of throttle and it is like drifting a corner in the car. Shooting a nice rooster tail most of the way. Not much of a trick but pretty fun. If you want to carve/track a turn, just lean it over a little. The only draw back on this thing is because its short, its not much fun to cruise around the lake on, particularly if it is rough. but that is true for any short hull I think. I'm more than happy to give that length up to get the faster and more dramatic rotation speeds. I have gone from looking like a complete idiot on a stock length ski to being able to pull some decent 180 nose stabs and my skill level hasn't increased. Its all because of the hull. I have almost the same motor set up in my SJ and now it thing feels like a tank when I ride it. If I had an extra 4k laying around, I'd buy another Aquabot and gut the SJ to build it.

Other than not having a front foothold on it, there really isn't anything from Tigercraft that I wish it had. There are a couple of things I still need to do like getting trim on it (for flatwater, don't need it for the surf). I really want to paint it but don't want to take it out of the water that long! One note about the front foothold, as I get better at handling this thing, I'm riding more and more in the back footholds (not surf stance) and not thinking about the front foothold so much.

I've landed sideways, flat a couple times off a pretty good jump (big boat wake) and it is holding strong. I know they would have popped my hood on the ol' SJ. Haven't had a bad landing from a high surf jump yet but this is a tough hull and I really like the hood design. Friend of mine is talking with Tigercraft about getting one and they now have their own hood hook design that fits this hood. I tried modding a stocker, tried the CF and the ADA hooks and they just don't fit well on this hood because it is so low/short. I've been just running a ratchet strap so far and haven't had any issues. The tongue and groove style of hood matching to the hull is pretty slick. It is a tight fit and matches really well. I don't know how TigerCraft can get that many variables to line up so well from two seperate molds but I like it.

I really have nothing negative to say about it. I wish I was more skilled so I could comment on how it feels in a barrel roll and a backie. Sorry guys, you'll just have to wait a few more months (years?) before I get to that level and can make worthwhile comments about it. What else do people want to know about a ride report? Some of it is so subjective, I'm not sure what people want to know.

Thank you for all your input I'm half flat and half surf , I can't wait to get mine should be arranging shipping in the next week or two I'm going nuts not having a ski to throw around, can't wait to get back on the water and ride my aquabot. Glad your enjoying yours and your son too :)

Can't remember if I mentioned it earlier but about the build: Stock SJ water box doesn't fit so I got the H2O designs. It fits well but is loud as heck! I'm wondering if I'm driving the neighbors nuts. I'm thinking about trying the X-metal box since it should fit well too and supposedly is about stocker decibles but at $240 that prolly won't happen for a while. Just a heads up for everyone else though, the H2O designs one is loud. The Rad Dudes silicon exhaust tube is money BTW. Fits great and holds up well and cheaper than an OEM

TDR has always served me well.

Waterbox issues
latest update, had too much 'exhausty' water in the bottom of the hull. No fumes when I popped the lid so I was a bit confused. After checking all the waterlines and exhaust couplers, I pulled the battery, tank, and water box. Sure enough, the H2O designs water box is blown out. The bottom front side weld is broken all the way across and the baffle is loose inside the box. So, two things, 1) my comment about how loud it is may be inaccurate because I was basically riding without a water box no duh its gonna be loud. I don't know when I blew it though and this box was loud from the git go. B) I haven't contacted H2O designs or Fast Elements to complain yet so I'm not talking trash yet. Doubt there is any kind of warranty but worth checking! I've got 15 hours on it so it isn't that used.

Now I'm shopping for a new box! Anyone have any idea of anything I may have done to put extra stress on the water box? I haven't had any backfires or 'exhaust' pops but kinda suprised to blow out a baffle and a weld.
