Super Jet Thrustmaster ride plate/intake grate?

So I bought my first SJ and it has what looks to be a one piece shredmaster* intake grate and ride plate. It hangs past the back of the ski by roughly 4 inches! It sure hooks up good, and cavitation is nowhere near a problem. The issue is that I can't get the nose up for jumps and tail stands. Should I cut this baby off flush and D-cut it? I have access to cnc mills at work, so it would be easy to do. Just wanted some advice. I don't want to run into excess cavitation and have to buy a new ride plate and intake grate since this thing looks like it's all one piece.

Another negative to this thing is that I occasionally whack my knee on it when I crash because it sticks out so far. Ouch.

Thanks for any advice guys

lol you are correct. sorry I typed this up and went with what was in my head. shredmaster* How much can I get out of this thing? Now I need a intake grate and ride plate... more money magically disappearing! Will I see a huge difference in being able to get the nose up if I switch this out?

Thanks
