Super Jet Throttle Lever / Chinpad Interference

I just installed a cold fusion shortened turn plate and x-scream straight bars on my 02 SJ and when I try to turn the bars to the right my throttle lever hits the chinpad. Has anyone run into this and come up with a good modification? I am thinking about trimming the chinpad but then I am worried about getting the cover to fit back on tight.

thats pretty normal. a bunch of mine hit. as long as its not going to chew a hole in the pad, i let it hit. if your bars, levers and grips were out wider, it wouldnt hit or if you turn the trigger down it may not. its the curse of the aftermarket parts. buy em and then figure out how to modify everything to make it work.

It's not the end of of the world, but I would like to get the full range out of it...Kind of a crappy picture but you can see the slight gap between the stop. I don't really like the angle of the lever if I turn it down more.

by the looks of how you have the steering adjusted, you could turn the stop sideways so the stop hits sooner and move the ball out farther to get the throw back. your quick steer isnt adjusted right as far as i can tell.

cut the chin pad out and avoid that gap.....having a gap means you are resting the yanked bars on the steering cable not steering stop !!! Turn Steering stop and make sure it stops on stop

Angle your finger throttle down a bit more.

x2... it is more comfortable that way too, allows more of your fingers/hand to wrap around your grips. More natural when pulling the throttle.

I am guessing you probably have not ridden with the new throttle yet?

I have used the throttle lever on my UMI bars I had. I have not run this setup with the shortened turn plate and x-scream bars yet since the snow is just disappearing. I had the lever at approximately the same angle it is currently at, and I found that to be the most comfortable for me. (My wrist does not move at good as it should to wrap farther around the grip) I didn't even think about the lever hitting when I got the x-scream bars. The travel length seems to be perfect when turning the other way if I leave the stop the direction it is.

I ended up turfing the chinpad since I had some leftover turf. Once I removed the original cover I trimmed the plastic base to allow the full movement, and then just turfed it with the new angle. Seems to work pretty good. I won't be able to try it out for another month or so unfortunately though.
