Throttle Body/Carb spacer

Putting a throttle body/carb spacer on cars is something people have been doing for a while. Has anyone ever tried this on a jet ski? I'm thinking about this for two reasons...
First off I'm curious to know if it would give any power gains.
Secondly I'm thinking of going to a Mikuni carb because this Kiehin :rocketwhore:is a pure POS . However, instead of buying a new intake manifold I think I could fabricate a 0.25" thick spacer that would mount to my current manifold and have mounting points for the mikuni.

you will lose throttle response when you move the throttle plate away from the reeds

In a car its more important for torque when you are using midrange but in an f1 car they have very short intakes to allow for top end hp

A jet ski engine flares up very fast due to the pump slip
so the gains would be overcome by the loses
