Super Jet This thing has caused more grief than fun.

I posted a couple weeks ago about my start/stop switch failing then while towing my ski back in it nearly sank. Ended up taking it to a shop out of frustration and because of the price I told myself I wouldn't do that again. After I got it back I rode it for a couple hours in mission bay, San Diego, and it ran perfectly. Flushed it thoroughly and sprayed WD40 everywhere, the whole shibang. After installing a bilge pump today I tried to start it just for shats and giggles and what do you know... NOTHING.

It turns over fine, just won't fire at all, as if there is no spark. It was just running a couple days ago. Here is my diagnoses: Spark is there, fuel is pumping, its sucking air through the carb, and compression seems good (just put my thumb over the holes and it popped my thumb off, although I can probably do a real compression test tomorrow.)

What else could it be? Spark, fuel, and air all seem to be there. What can happen in two days of it sitting that can cause this? I appreciate any advice, theres no way im taking this thing back to the shop.

BTW its a 1993 Square Nose with a Protec built and ported 701 single carb. Thanks guys

Whats the best way to test that? I popped off the fuel line going into the carb and fuel was pouring out. I put my hand over the carb and turned it over a few times in hopes of flooding it and the plugs were a bit wet afterward but not as much as I would expect. The carb was just rebuilt when I took it in. Could I pour some fuel directly into the carb to see if that will get it to fire. I tried that with WD40 and didnt get a change.

I had a similar issue once. My fuel tank vent fell into the bottom of the ski and sucked water into the fuel tank. Make sure you don't have water in your tank. You can check by siphoning a bit out from the bottom of the tank into a water bottle. You'll see right away if there's water in it.

Have you tried spraying some fuel down the carbs to see if itll run? I would definately do that and see if its actually fuel related. If it still dont start then ya need to pull spark plug boot and put a spare plug in there. Hold it to the head, crank and look for spark.

EDIT: To OP; you said they rebuilt the carb when you brought it in? In that case I wouldnt touch :):):):) and send that right back to the "mechanic"

I already tested for a spark and its fine. Id hate to take it back there. Its over an hour drive each way even if it was their fault and im not trying to get charged for some bs if its not. Ill try the fuel into carb tomorrow and let u know how it goes. Thanks

+1 for using starter fluid, it should atleast kick for a second or two. Check to see if your pulser line is nice and secure, actually all of your fuel lines make sure they are all zip tied tight onto the fittings so no air bubbles get into them.
