Think a qualified local machine shop can cutback my impeller?
I have heard they do work boring PWC cylinders and such..
I have no clue, but was thinking about calling them Monday. I'm just trying to get a idea for now..

Sure, any good machinest could do it. I know I could, But to get the full package that Dave @ Impros does? I would still send it to him in a heartbeat!

We had to make a Jig fir a lathe for our local machinest, otherwise it is very time consuming. Now RD Young can repitch and his machinest can cut back. It saves time and shipping money. Still cost the same as Impros in labor though.

By the way, we used an old stripped drive shat to make the jig.

I have heard of people doing it with just a dremal................

also using a drill press.........

I used a grinding stone on a drill press just to try it out on an old impeller and it worked great. I ride in flat smooth water and I couldn't really tell a difference between 0 and 5mm cut back.

Thanks for the replies!
I usually buy my impellers from Dave at Impros and also have him do the cutbacks, but this prop I bought new from Jeff Jacobs on Ebay. After install it looks like it needs to be cutback quite a bit..
Its a Skat 12/17 swirl and I love it and think it will really kick some butt when it's cut back. I'm just trying to save some shipping fees and some time.

clamping the impeller would be the only prblem.

clamp it flat on the deck of a MILL, then use an end mill to do the cutting.

shouldnt take too long at all.

the ones that I have seen look to have been milled, not turned on a lathe.
