Thin but warm shoes

Ok I have a flat deck and kiteboarding straps that work awesome for barefoot riding. The problem is that right now it's too cold to ride barefooted but my wrestling shoes won't fit in the straps even if I loosen them up.

Anyone have any ideas for a low profile shoe that will keep my feet somewhat warm? I'm not needing anything major and a neoprene sock would keep my feet warm enough but I know those socks would fly off the first time my foot were to drag behind the ski. I was debating just getting some neoprene socks and punch holes in them for a shoelace...What do you think?

check out scuba boots

mine are oceanic venture

they are really warm and a little thinner than wrestling shoes but they might squeeze in. Only problem is they might not stay on through a rough crash but the few times i have worn mine has been ok the cold water made me ride a little conservatively.

I had a pair of scuba booties that I eventually wore out but you can keep them on by tieing a shoelace around the top. Worked well for me. My worn out boots would probably fit but I think a new booty wouldn't fit.

Those O'Neill boots might be perfect but they're a little pricey...I might have to break down and buy them though. I may consider it part of my Daytona fund.

yeah there what i used before my wrestling shoes. there warm enough for me in the ocean. with a sock would be super warm. there really nice and have held together. they will not fall off in a crash but they will fill with water after a crash if worn with out a wet suit over top of them.

yeah full of water they are a bit awkward for sure. is it possible for you to just get some longer bolts to hold the straps down then maybe use some old turf like spacers to give you more room under them?

Sounds like a plan. I'll see if I can find some at a reasonable price. I'm not too worried about water entry...just worried about the water entry ripping them off.

I got a pair of the non-split toe version of these Hotline brand boots in the fall of 2007 at a local surf shop on clearance for $40:

Here is the link to the split toe model pictured above:

They were nice and comfy in 36 degree water. They are a challenge to take off so I don't think they would fall off. Lots of sucking/slurping noise when they are removed. There is a velcro strap around the top to eliminate any chance of them coming off.
