Thermoswitch accessory?

So I bought an ada head to replace the stock one and while I was removing the stock head I came across an electrical accessory that fits into the top of the stock head and not the ada. After a little research I believe it is a thermoswitch accessory? Does anybody know what this does?

Monitors beat levels and engages the rev limiter to restrict you to idle if you are over heating. You can bypass it but you lose the reliability of that safety feature. Its there becsuse yamaha knows peopel are stupid. we have all seen the jackass that has their ski stuck on the beach and rather than pushing it they just rev it up and blow sand and shell throgh their pump. Don't ride through the mud and you have nothing to worry about.

That sensor saved me once. Somehow caught a small twig in a cooling line and it cut my revs in half to let me know. Would be nice to keep it with an aftermarket head.
