Wow!!

Hope you get well soon!

I had a friend that used to say "You're not having fun until your damn near dead." By that standard I guess you were having a great time!

It's my understanding that in Mexico they don't use opiates or "good" drugs much in the hospitals - so you end up with high-powered aspirin or ibuprophin, at best.

UPDATE

well its been over three months. I just got back from the doc and he gave me the ok to start walking. I went 6 weeks ago and I was still a long way out. So he gave me the ok to start using an ultrasound bone stimulator (exogen 2000). it helped it got it healed with the help of God. the fracture lines in my femur still look like this / \ / \ in the xray. my leg has really decade. I can hardely take a step without my knee giving out so I walk like a 90 year old man. but at least I can start to relearn to walk. may be able to get back on the ski in a couple months. right now all I can do is walk and then he said once I get that down I can start biking. I get a big NO on riding the ski and running though. maybe in the next couple months I can get back on it.

what nurse can dx a broken femur with out an xray.
nurses are not allowed to dx anyhow it is against the law ( except advance practice nurses that is)
sorry
just the nurse in me

what a crappy story though man that sux. glad your makin progress reminds me a my friends brother that had a skydiving incident in spain and shattered his wrists and ankles, he could not communicate with anyone and life sucked untill the marines picked him up and took him to a marine medical facility or something like that.

it's a long road no doubt. i can't imagine. makes my motor and tuning trouble seem inconsequential

good luck

I thought I would update this. I just got a check for 22,000 from my insurance company, Praise the Lord on that. I guess they finally got tired of getting letters from me. I still owe about 5,000 but that is manageable. Its amazing that it took a year for them to do this. I am just glad its over with.

I still have a long ways to go. It is still painful to run and I have a goofy limp when I try. now that the weather is decent I am trying to get out when ever I can. I am walking to work again and I am going backpacking next weekend. hopefully getting out on the water will help too.
