The Waternut Stunt hull build

I've been toying around with the idea of putting some form of a splash guard on the nose of this ski. It sounds like a pure goober mod done by those same people who wear t-shirts on couches. However, the hull doesn't even have a lip and I'd say about 1 out of 5 times I jump, I land blind because so much spray comes off the bottom of the ski that it forces my eyes shut. I'm kind of thinking of just putting a couple layers of biax that hang down over the lip an inch or two and then returf that area. What do you guys think?

I just noticed what your sig says now. I have no idea how long it has been that way, but I'm LMFAO!

I was wondering when someone was going to comment on that sig. John...u up for some riding today or are you painting a certain someone's PINK ski?

I just installed a TBM pump cone today with the smallest tail cone. The water was ridiculously choppy to point where it was difficult to control the ski. I did notice that I wasn't struggling as much as normal with keeping the pump hooked up but also noticed that I didn't have as much pop as I used to. I didn't ride long before it started storming so I wasn't able to get a good test for comparison. It's hard to get that pop when it's super choppy anyway. I'll try again when it's less crappy.

I tested this theory today. Rode next to a buddy who has a mag pump with a 61x single carb motor in a roundy with same handling mods as i do. On glass water i blow him away. In the chop he passes by me like im standing still. I have TBM cone(small tailcone on) and a 12/17 cutback big hub prop. A mag pump in the chop is the shiz hands down.

Sounds like a trade off honestly... I wonder if a mag pump will continue to provide thrust for a little longer after the intake grate has left the water like when jumping a wave.

Got to ride on some flatter water today. The TBM cone feels like it gets me higher off my own wake and it's certainly easier to keep the pump hooked up. When the pump does gets unhooked it's a bit more violent though. I think it's a little bit better than going from an open style grate to a big top loader grate.

Ok so I've convinced myself that I need new footholds. I just can't get any confidence with my current holds and that's holding me back. I'm pretty sure I'm going to try and modify my old XFT holds to fit in this hull. The question I have now is this... What color for new turf?

My first choices are red or yellow but hydroturf even warns you that both will fade severely. So that puts me back at square one. I've been using gray for too long and have seen enough of black. I like the royal blue but my ski is blue and that's just too much of the same color. I'm kind of leaning towards teal or lime green.

I'm a little worried about white but it's certainly an option. Here are some of the colors I'm considering. The top row left to right is lime green, light blue, white and on the bottom is teal and orange. The funny thing is I'm looking at the lime green and leaning towards that the most just because it's so repulsive...lol
