The trials bike build

I need a new trials bike ,I can't afford a new trials bike so I am building a new to me trials bike,the first a pic is what it is supposed to look like,the second pic is what I want it to look like and the last pic is my starting point .:deadhorse:

I am just messing with you,thats the parts bike that I got the engine from,the engine was actually in fairly decent shape except some ahole welded the kickstarter onto the shaft,which means full disassembly of the engine to replace the kickstarter shaft BUMMER! I am actually starting off with a roller,I have the frame pretty much bare other than the forks shocks ,swingarm and wheels now,I ground off of the misc brackets and doo dads on the frame,next I will fully disassemble the frame and repaint it,then start reassembly.I am leaving it basically stock at the moment except for motor mods,so far the investment is at $0.00.

Way ,way later down the road I may start working on the second one as I get new rims,shocks,forks etc for the other one. I will slowly make that junker a roller and go from there.I have a set of aluminum rims laying around here already I just need some spoke kits and somewhere I have a set of XR200 forks so I can use that nice new aluminum fork brace hanging on the wall behind the roller. I have two cylinders already bored ready to go and the best part, a ported head and White Bro's camshaft.The nice part is Ebay is littered with parts for this bike if you know what parts interchange if it say TLR on it it will be expensive,the same part for an XR is about 1/4 the price usually.

You mean the sidecovers,they were missing on both bikes,they can be had via Ebay but they are just cheapo plastic and they want way too much for them.I made some molds yesterday out of pvc foam,its thermoformable so I just cut it out ,heated it in the shop oven and formed it to the contours of the bike,I will be laying some sidecovers up out of carbon fiber.Eventually I will probably make a one piece tank,sidecover seat combo like on that bike in the second pic,you can buy a f-glass one for only $520.00, F that I can make a carbon fiber one for less than $100.00.

so how are those for putting around trails and back roads? Does a full grown person look like he's riding a clown bike?

They are great as long as you like standing up,the seats are not comfortable for long rides,this one should be fairly fast as far as trials bikes go.

I see those on Ebay all the time ,they always go for $1500.00 and up if they are clean.I am just going with an XR200 headlight numberplate combo, a small taillight and probably a 6v nikad battery pack to run the brake light on a separate circuit.My stator and flywheel is out of an ATC200X it has a lighting coil already.
