The Single Primer Fitting on Full specs

So I met a guy standing next to his pretty nice boat running Full Specs with Ed's single primer fitting capped off. He had instead plumbed two primer lines running through his arrestors into each throat. It didn't look too bad . . . just odd.

I asked why he didn't use the single fitting and his answer was that he didn't want to start his ski with one dry cylinder.

I didn't say anything at the time but my question is this: Doesn't the single primed carb just empty into the case and and then be taken in by both cylinders?

Am I missing something?

You're missing that with the dual carb 62T cases, both halves are (almost) completely separate. A/F mix from one carb will not end up in the other jug.

Especially if the manifold crossover is blocked or non-existent.

I wouldn't argue with what the guy did, but technically I would think that the "dry" cylinder would still have a film of lube if he's using a decent oil and that that cylinder wouldn't fire until fuel (with its oil) was drawn from the carb anyhow.

I agree there is plenty of oil film left over for the half of a second that it takes for the front carb to start flowing fuel. What this guy did is overkill. I think that Ed Brazina knows his shat well enough to know that priming more than one carb is a waste of time.

I kinda agree but with a $6000 motor why would you want to take a slight chance. Plus if he gets water in the motor feeding fuel to both cylinders will help get it started without any unwanted cranking
