Super Jet The O.G. superjet restored!!!!

After six months i finally got the rest of the ski put together. mainly just a restore project at the moment. fixed up the body, repainted, small things.
this is my first attempt at rebuilding the ski, my friends and i did all of the work. i think it came out good. come wednesday ill be riding.

I do have a quick question. i did not realize the pump had shims when i removed it. i put the shims back into place where i thought they went.
My guess is the pump isnt perfectly shimmed, but will that do any damage while running it? will it be worth my time to pull the engine and pump and reshim it?

Thanks, here are the before and after pics!IMAG0187.jpgIMG_0725.jpgDSCN0143.jpgIMAG0194.jpgIMG_0410.jpg

If your pump isn't aligned properly you will likely be buying a drive shaft and mid shaft soon. It's deff worth the time to do it right.

Agreed. Your going to have some vibration most likely if off by a good bit. Also do you have any padding or turf in those holds? Your going to want it.

no padding..... i couldnt find the right kind of padding so it is strait turf, as my buddy later tells me he has a whole roll of camping foam. im hoping my riding shoes and a couple ankle braces might ease the pain.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your going to need some fat tongued skate shoes to make your ride bare able I had straight turf on my RN. And the top of my feet still hurt at the end of the day. Still an enjoyable ride, just bruised on top of my feet.

and it also helps lock you in with padding. i had a big problem with coming out of my holds. but i didnt run padding because i wore DC's and i wear a size 12.5. the holds were kinda small

i have a buddy who did not do padding on the top of the hold, and after ridding the ski for 5 minutes the whole tops of my feet were nice and bruised from doing nose stabs and screwing around. Like everyone said thick tongue shoes or put some padding on that thing you will NEED it. awesome build if you ever need an extra white chin pad hit me up i have an extra one

Did you ever get around to shimming the pump. You may also wanna do the engine as well.

No I'm planning on doing it all tomorrow. I have not previosuly removed Tue engine so shouldn't it still be properly aligned? I was going to put the shames back exactly how they came off. Any tips for my work ahead of me?

^^ I thought the same thing the first time i pulled my ski apart and low and behold 2 years later my mid shaft housing and bearing blow up. So your best bet is to take the motor and midshaft housing out. Keep the pump bolted up with no shims. I just eyeballed mine cause stock hulls are more forgiving if the alignment is off just a bit it's ok. Make sure that the shaft for the pump is as in the middle of the hole as possible.

After you get the pump aligned. put the midshaft housing back on and motor back in with no shims. This is the tricky part and i now i don't do it right so i can't help you there too much. I just use an allen wrench laid across the couplers to see how my alignment is and where it rocks back and forth i know i need to shim it. It is not a good method but my couplers are aligned pretty well and i learned that from Dan Fitzgerald haha.

hope this helps a bit.

So I did the pump and the engine. Put it back together and when I went to start it, it just makes a single clicking noise, its not turning at all. I was ready for it to fire right up. Its spring break and my ski is dead. Its fantastic. What can I do to fix her up asap.

test battery voltage, test relay (if it's clicking, its probably working), tap the starerter motor lightly, sometimes they stick. pull the starter if all thats good and put 12v directly to it. did you have the stator cover off at all?

I sunk the ski about 5 plus months ago drained the water through the flywheel but about 2 months ago I had it running several times with no issues. so idk what it could be. I tried bypassing the start stop switch and same result. I tried diferent batteries same result. Would it be something in the ebox?
